Batt, Exhausts and More.

Post by seb421 »

Hello its been a while since my last post

Recently my bike had been a bitch to start most notibaly when left in the cold at work, which is not great at 3am wanting to go home i didnt think it was the battary because it allways fired up fine from my garage (heated) ive had to bump the bike at work in 2nd gear a few times to fire it up, lucky for me there is one of those Steriod pushers at work which was at it happens ryther good at pushing my bike, any way he wasnt in and the enivatble happend and it wouldnt fire up and the batt run flat.

kipping at work i got a train the next day home then got a new battary, a honda approved one £68 wombles quid! and i had to piss about with the electrolite my self and then it required 5 hours or so on the optimate to charge it!

wheeled my bike into the staff room at ups, to which i didnt recive a warm welcome fitted the battary and it fired up once more like a dream right on the button, any ways the battary had lasted 9 years so i guess it was long over due.

Also i got pulled other week whilst speeding in leyland at around 3am by two beat bobbies walking down the road,
they blatantly knew i was speeding but when asked how fast i was going i said 30 mabe 32 at a push, they just then looked at me for a good minuite which was realy odd it was like they was expecting me to say yes yes i was hammering it you got me,
so they ask me to get off the bike im thinking oh sh1t here we go, then he ask's my details so i just get my lisence out and give him that.

then he starts to ask about the exuasts, im thinking of wombles if he dont get me for the speeding he's gona have me for the exhausts and the lights defo......

askes me to start the bike again, im praying please dont wombles pop and bang, any way mericalusy it doesnt which is someting it allways has done start with a loud bang since the new race exhausts was fitted. so he starts to rev it to about 3 thousand he stands there with his elbow chum, umming and arrrrring then starts asking me why there isnt markings on the can, so i said my mot station fitted new can's for me after i had a defected on at the test i said they are loud at the moment because of a recent crack in the link pipe whic you can see i have tried to repair my self... he was like well i guess if they passed the mot they must be legal, he didnt evan notice the light beam warming up when he switched ignition on.

since i got stopped ive been extra carefull now on the speeding, 3am for god sake!

any ways happy christmas to everone and if your like me and ride 50 miles a day 5 days a week on the bike in all sh1t conditions be safe, had to put my foot down on the round about when the font slid other night with a car right up my butt!

Odd I thought the battery for the storm was a maintenance free sealed unit. Also, if you find the time and opportunity to check the the condition of the leads from the battery to starter solenoid, and importantly to the starter - look under the rubber boot for any corrosion where it bolts into the starter. As there's only fibre washers stopping all the salty sh!t entering the starter - make sure you keep it vaselined or greased up.

Well done on your slippery fish excuses to confound the jobworths.

Timbo wrote:Wicky, when i last bought a battery you had to add the electrolyte from this plastic bottle thing, it sort of fitted into all 6(?) holes at once, you then fitted the seal and never touched it again. Sounds like he got one of that type.
That's what i had to do with the last one i bought ,...once the seal is fitted it is then a 'maintenance free sealed unit',also had a sticker on the seal saying 'never add water'.

Welcome back Seb  I think you were very lucky not to get a ticket when you were pulled. With luck like that I hope you did a lottery ticket that day :D

The battery that lasted 9yrs must have been an original Yuasa :?: Out of interest what make did Mr Honda recommend for a replacement :?:

Happy Christmas to you too :D

Cheers,

Chris.

yeh that was the name of the original, im not sure about the new one the box is in the bin and the battary inside the bike, i will get it out the bin next time i go to the garrage and have a look.

its good to be back, im still bloody looking for a Left hand side fairing for the bike!

ive got an undertail and Tank and seat cowl just need the left side fairing so i can have them all sprayed up at the same time, im still riding the bike with the dinted tank wich has reduced the small 16 L tank evan more and is now showing spots of rust too.

any one know of a left side pannel anywhere thats not a riduclas price or damaged?
