bought one at last!

Post by benny hedges »

Hi chaps :D
Finally :D

santa was a tight butt this year and only brought me some socks and a cb750k mug, probably cos i've been a bad boy, so i went out and treated myself to this

(SORRY-NOW SOLD-AWAITING DELIVERY) Great value Firestorm! - Only two owners from new and JUST 7205 MILES.

wanted a red sp1 really, but this was a bargain, very low mileage, absolutely mint and a very unusual colour!
Plus they gave me a complimentary HRC carbon umbrella!
Pick it up in a week or so, can't wait to ride it!
been after a good low mileage one for a while - made up with this one,
got myself a pdf shop manual but you can still expect a good few noob q's about what goes where etc!

been riding on the roads for 28yrs, current ride is a 23yo cbx750, so the vtr should be a refreshing upgrade :P

spammage lol - here's my old lady!

still in good nick, but getting a bit long in the tooth now, and too slow & heavy. probably keep hold of it for the g/f and rough winters.
works out no extra to insure the 2 with ebike so might as well hang onto it.

idd. not collected it yet but can't wait.
hopefully it doesn't snow again - fell off my cbx twice int last month lol, once cos of over-enthusiastic chain greasing and once cos of a merc towing a trailer with no lights cancelling a turn on me.

oh & +1 on the airbags :p

What's the story with the one knackered RH bar end, not fitted flush?

Looks in great nick, though, mine was probably like that once, (several owners ago!)
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

dunno tbh, looked at the bar weight, looks like wear off a glove tbh cos it's like the paint is scuffed, no scrapes on it.
looks like it has been taken off a different bike as the other side is mint and still glossy.

trust me i had a proper look for damage cos i was
wondering why the price was low for the mileage.
still got pips on the tyres so it hasn't even been leaned over lol!
and no stone chips :o though the hugger usually stops chips at the back...
every bike i've had has been bladdered with chips with pitted forks etc, fairing chips.
Don't think this one's been ridden hard at all.

just done the seals on the cbx, just before that pic, and filled in some minor damage to the left leg with quiksteel and 1000 grade wet n dry - good as new ;)
only other thing it needed was clutch plates, battery and r/r, it's been a good slave.
just a bit embarrasing now unless i'm out on a solo ride :(

OOOH AHH och awwww. potholes
damn nippy ride tho, very in love already!
forgot it wasnt a 4 and gave it a handfull at the lights in padgate and popped a mega trump inducing wheelie followed by a silly back end slide :P

think i'll be happy with this for a bit :D
bought meself a shoe raid2 as well, very comfy & very quiet.
would've been out all night on it apart from the marrow froze in my fingers and the headlight is shite lol

Headlight fix- get yourself the eastern beaver relay kit, and a 90w/130w bulb.
You will be amazed at the difference.

Your bike does look in good condition there Benny

That CBX750 of yours reminded me of how I very nearly bought one of those many years ago. I think it was the fuel consumption that put me off (that's if what I read was true of course), as back then I rode the bike all year round.

Chris.

PS. Welcome aboard
