electrical question

Post by seb421 »

i have got me one of these for the bike.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWNX:IT

i allready have my HID lights wired upto the battery and im assumeing this also goes on the batt

will it be able to charge my laptop via this as it would in the car? as in will the bike be able to supply that amount of voltage etc consitantly, will it drain my batt?

It will charge exactly the same as your car but I'd be concerned charging it if the engine isn't running. Could you charge whilst riding? Perhaps with the laptop in a tank bag or rucsac? If so then no worries.

as asked yes i would only be chargeing things on the bike as i ride

it does need the 19.5 V but the dell DC charger is 12V input with an output of 19.5V

Input Voltage Range DC12V

Output Voltage DC19.5V

Output Current 4.62A

Power 90W

how that works or what any of that sh1t means i have no idea

my 12v socket for the bike has ariived today and i must say im impressed with the quality!

Seb, I'd be more concerned with trashing the lappy in one of your crashes than getting it charged

Just buy a spare battery for it.
Rich.

my reason for want is so that in summer i am wanting to do a long ride into europe just a small one man tent and a few clothes, laptop/netbook wireless dongle and the bare esesentles, this way i can charge phones, laptop, ipod and other sh1t on myown and not have to rely on motel's and that, so that way i can keep the cost down and i plan just just pick up cheep clothes while im out there and bin my used ones, im not into the front to back inside and outside thing.

saw some good waterproof fag lighter sockets for bikes on flea bay for a few £.
don't think i'll be lighting up with my lid on, but was thinking of getting one for my tomtom.
why don't you just take a blackberry or summat instead of the laptop?
saying that, i wouldnt be without this one - 10" ASUS thingio - great gadget imo, does everything my desktop did apart from proper gaming.
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Just don't wash sweaty leathers with it....
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Take care, your contract is only for UK only, and the data costs when roaming can be very high..............fortunatly i charge mine to work, but I wouldnt want to pay it myself.
