plastic weld and respray

Post by Bondy »

When i get back from sunny falklands ill have a little money so wanna get the bike perfect.

Its got a few cracks in the fairings and i want to get an under tray and figured i might as well go for a full respray and get it looking perfect again. Was just wondering what im likely to have to pay and if anyone knows anyone decent in the north west area.

Anyway thanks for anyone who replys, will be a massive help if i can find someone trustworthy

wow thats a great job.
The cracks are only a cm long at the most but there are a few of them, but if its that easy ill give it a shot.
I wasnt sure wether to do a full respray as i dont want miss matched panels and there is a crack in alomst every part of the fairng. So will prob have to do a full respray anyway. Do the halfords cans come up well? If they do i dont mind doing it myself.

You don't have to go for a full respsray if you can fix and prepare the areas around the damage. The trick will be blending in the paint (& lacquer) to the undamaged areas.

This will avoid the cost of a full re-spray, and the added cost of Honda decals (£££s!!) to restore it back to a factory finish,

Once you have completed your repair, I would recomend using fiber glass resin around the repair area. By brushing some of this around the area afterwrds will give it extra strenght . I strenghtened my lower fairing after painting and refitting it in this way.
