Brake Caliper Piston Seals
Brake Caliper Piston Seals
Hi, Can anyone help? I have to strip down my front calipers and replace the seals. I've browsed the net to find a good place to buy the kit and am confused now as there are two sizes offered. They are 27 or 30mm. My 'storm is a '97 model and both kits are offered for the same year model. Was there different types of caliper fitted. Any help greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the forum,
The calipers have different size pistons which is why you need different seals, i did mine last year with a kit from wemoto which included everything you need.

Cheers Phil and thanks for the welcome. Is there any way of finding out what size seals I need other than measuring the pistons. I need to keep the bike on the road until I get the callipers off. Its my only transport.

Re: Brake Caliper Piston Seals
Each caliper has 2 x 30mm and 2 x 27mm pistons so that kit will have everything you need to replace them all.
You should be able to do them both in half a day but read the postings in this forum about bleeding the system!

Most importantly,
check the groove where the seals are seated. You can get a load of crystalized crap build up in there and you need to give it a good scrape to clear it all out. If you leave any behind your brake pads can drag and you might warp a disc.
