Converted my storm to a single exhaust. Sounds good and runs fine. What do you reckon?

looks great - how much????

youtube a soundclip for us?
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Cost £5 for an end cap for the left exhaust from a local engineering firm. I have just installed a dynojet kit myself and used there recommendations for the setup. First impressions bike pulls strong through out the rev range with no flat spots.
Mid range feels a lot stronger. I will get it on a dyno soon and let you know the figures.

A friend of mine a good racer, Julian Tiltson Raced a storm last year, He ran a Single pipe set up, His Dad has a Motorcycle Shop and Garage and they know what there doing with tuneing etc, i dont think the bike ran as well on the single set up as with two cans, it was defo louder and pulled hard from the bottom tho.

If I'm honest I like the two can set-up as it looks more balanced IMHO, but your bike looks pretty good to me

I'll be interested to see the dyno results too,

Chris.

I ran a similar set-up. I cut the header where the two pipes join and mated it to a link pipe (only mod was to cut the link pipe and fit a joiner thus allowing me to rotate one end slightly) and Blue Flame Dual Port can (older version) from a 98 R1 . The bike ran fine afterwards and the jetting set-up (DJ kit) I had with my Micron slip-ons worked flawlessly. On the dyno, it was slightly stonger in the bottom but had a noticeable dip in the torque curve between 4,800 and 6,000 rpm (right at roll-on speed for highway riding). In terms of peak numbers, hp was virtually unchanged and torque was down slightly.

The down pipes have not been altered so I can convert back to a standard setup if required.

terryfranks wrote:The down pipes have not been altered so I can convert back to a standard setup if required. I did grind out the metal where the pipes split it looked very restrictive. But I think that may have been a mistake; as it might be problem if I convert back wot with back pressure and all that.
That restrictor in the RH side downpipe joint is surely only designed for twin original cans anyway; you'll need to keep the gas flow at full bore to run a single can, as twice the gasflow goes through it.

Restricting the flow further would be the equivalent of restricting the only remaining outlet to around a third to a quarter of standard, too much back pressure for sure IMHO.

Done this mod with straight-through pipes, didn't seem to make any difference either way, really. But can't comment on any effect with STD pipes on, as they only go on mine for a couple of hours a year at MOT time.

If you put the can on the left side you wouldn't need to grind it out.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
