I-touch on Win 7 64 bit

Post by tony.mon »

SO I upgraded to a new pc with Win 7 64 bit, (Intel quad processor in a Packard Bell) but the wife Xmas present won't sync- starts to, but then stalls after between 7 and 80 songs.
Then the pc can't recognise the I-Touch, it says there's no driver and thinks it's a camera.

I've had a go on the helpline, they have no idea what it is but (of course) blame Microsoft.
Checked lots of forums, apparently this is a known problem, but solutions suggested don't work.

I thought it might just be worth asking you lot, just in case you've come across this before?

Worth mentioning that yes, I have the latest versions, and yes, I've tried un/reinstalling.

Works fine on the old XP pc, so it's not a major prob, just stuck with 2 pc's running.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Have you upgraded to the latest version of I tunes.

I know I had to do this when my PC was upgraded to windows 7.

My I phone works fine with windows 7 and the latest I tunes!!

Yep, it's the 64 bit that seems to cause the problem.
Works fine on an old XP pc.
Tried auto sync and manual drag'n'drop, same either way on 64.

Yes, it's the IPod Touch, not the phone. 8gb version.

Yep, most definitely latest versions all round; not that causing the problem.

I'm sure you wont be interested but I just bought myself a new touch.......works fine. Mind you, I'm not using 64bit.

I've never been into ipods or gadgets ,but must say,i was well impressed with my daughters ipod touch ,we also got her a docking station with speakers ,only 15W or so,but it gives out a really good sound.

Tried that, Timbo, same results..

BUT THEN.......

New update available from Apple for both I-Tunes and I-Pod.
Problem GONE!

working normally now.

But (whinge of the day moment) how much better would it have been for Apple to put up an honest notice on their website saying they know there's a problem, they're working on it, just wait a while and an update will be out.

Would've saved me hours and hours of pratting about trying to fix it myself.

I know they might have lost a few sales from people who were planning to buy one for a 7/64 pc, but surely all they've achieved is to piss off a whole lot of people.

There, I feel better now :D

Thanks for all suggestions, appreciated.
