So, I promised to post photos of my DR Hyde :)

Here goes. Notice scratched plastics and worn crashbars - I deliberately keep it this way.
Under plastic bike is perfectly cleaned, frame polished and painted with special paints etc .etc.
Plastic bits on DR is just for looks, they hold no function at all, literally - at all, nothing even hanged on them.
So, mods done:
1. WP Extreme front forks, RWU 50 mm fully adjustable, off Husaberg
2. Wilbers full monty shock absorber, separate damping circuits etc. etc.
3. GPR handlebar, original clocks removed and Trailtech Vapor installed instead, including engine temp. sensor
4. Carbs rejetted, airfilter slightly modified, exhaust - ex-Benelli Tornado factory Arrow exhaust, half-labyrinth, hald-straight through, fully titanium. Installed using self-made link pipe.
5. 2 sets of wheels - ones on photos are supermoto kind, 17" 3.5 front 4.25 rear with 150 tyre. Second set - 21" front 17" back with Pirelli MT21 knobbies. Wheels interchangeable in 15 minutes.
6. Re-made from pieces crashbars with different fixation system - very good protection.
7. Not showing on photos - self - made full sump guard with toolbox, made from 5 mm thick alloy. I only install it for offroad days.
8. Rear racks accepting Aprilia Pegaso side panniers 30 liter each but keeping bike widht with panniers same as handlebar.
9. Self-made lower chain guard and upper chain deflector
10. Beringer 4-piston brake caliper in front on Husaberg hub.
11. Handguards re-made from Viper cheapo handguards to match bar curves etc. Thick aluminium bar at base.
12. Braided brake hoses everywhere.

I think this is all

I've always like this style of bike.
They are just so good and pratical in almost all situations you'll come across.
They can tour, they can off road, they can be driven quite quick, they have a great tank range, they are comfy but i just can't get over the fact they are soo fenkin ugly :eek2

Sorry Bluesman, I'm not having a pop at you, it's my problem.

Pete, I kinda agree - they kinda ugly :) in attractive way. You know - typical brutal look of old-style Dakar racer!
Have you seen Dakar DR ridden by Gaston Rahier? I can post some photos...It was amazingly close technically to stock.
I actually deliberatly keep old scratched plastics on - it works perfect when I need to park bike somewhere dodgy I find spot close to good looking bike :) and sleep well. Works so far. Of course I fall a lot when go offroad - I am learner, so it makes it easier too - I am not too worried about plastics etc.
So far I did 2 big tours: Norway with my wife as pillion, 5500 km in 10 days, Norway on my own, 6200 km in 10 days. And it was a blast - I never went over 140 kmph on highway, but when we hit Norway backroads DR was like fish in water! :)
Interesting, as time goes by I find DR more and more good looking, not sure - it's looks kinda growing on me. I always buy oddball bikes - here Firestorm is oddball too :)

AMCQ46, you right - I am going to install Madhead ATV shock wrap on the shock. Seems it works very well on bike of my friend...

Thanks guys for kind words! I worked hard on that bike - I think I slowly turning into semi-pro builder, number of bikes I worked on and parts I start to make myself from scratch...God, my daily job is soooo boring and so far from my past of pro mechanical engineer. Time in garage saves my sanity :)
