It has done it since I have had the bike, but notice it more now braided hoses and new fluid. My old man had a go and believes it fells like the ram in the master cylinder is scratched or damaged as it binds at the point the brakes come on and you have to pull a little harder to get over this resistance to get the brakes to work harder. The problem with this that they are on or off, there is no feel in them.
My question would a master cylinder referb kit solve this problem, or I have read on here that an SP1 master cylinder would improve braking.
I would prefer the SP1 master cylinder but does anyone know where I can get one that wont cost me the price of the bike?? and is there any other issues with fitting the SP1 master cylinder.

Being a cheapskate, myself and before splashing out on exotic replacement hardware I'd check the brakes were well bled and that the caliper seals etc. were okay, as they take the brunt of the shite on the roads.
Funnily enough this weekend fiddled with a partially seized rear caliper and found, not unsurprisingly, that after over 10 years the a rear metal sleeve (see pt 12 below) was thoroughly corroded. Plus corrosion on exposed piston and seals on the way out

Strip the calipers first. Take the pistons out and give them a polish with a rag and brake fluid.
most likely, your dust cover seals are melted or at least knackered and will need replacing. The second most common thing is crud build up next to the main seals in their slots. It stops the seal from pulling the piston back away from the disc after braking.
Do all that first and you'll be amazed at the improvement, it'll also save you the cost of a new master too.

Cheers for the advice, Jonesey came over Tuesday and bought a spare brake master cylinder and fitted it, which solved the binding issue. He was going to take it home and strip it to get an idea of what has gone wrong, but it feels so much better now, I have feel in the brake rather than on and off as before......
