If you put your location on your profile it's easier to recommend someone local to you- whereabouts are you?
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Like Tony says-a location might help

Dunno if you can pick that colour up at a Halfords or similar.

When I painted my undertray/mudguard up (after doing the fork conversion) went here:

http://www.rsbikepaint.com/

They were just down the road for me though :) Not cheap mind. Perfect match though and very good finish for an aerosol. Waits for witty comment :)

It amazes me too how many members (plenty more than just vtrnut) can't be bothered to enter their location. We're not expecting your exact address but, an idea of your area would quite often help when replying to a post :!:

Vtrnut, that yellow you are trying to match is known to be a right barsteward to match. So yes it is the fastest colour avoided by a good paint sprayer I agree

What may look like a good match in one light will look different in another brighter/duller day. Have you considered doing a contrast colour instead, such as black which goes very well with yellow IMHO :?: If you still want to go ahead with the colour yellow I wish you good luck.

yes m8 go to halfords and take the colour code from under the seat.

dont bother trying to match it off the shelf, get it made up in rattle cans.

the halfords paint is very good quality btw - you will be impressed

The Colour code for the 98 Storm is Y124. The later 2001 Storm Yellow is a different colour (lighter) and is Y16* something.

Hope this helps

the different honda yellows:

Y106 Clipper Yellow
Y108PA Pearl Splendor Ivory
Y124P Pearl Shining Yellow (Factory Variance Color) Smokin' Joes Edition
Y130P Pearl Hot Rod Yellow
Y137M Pearl Ivory Cream
Y146 Blaze Yellow
Y163P Pearl Flash Yellow
Y170M Cyber Gold Metallic
Y180 Yellow
you should be able to get these made up anywhere with a holts colour match machine tbh.

You won't get it to match in all lights. Full stop. My bellypan was done twice by Dream Machine and they couldn't do it either. Its a really odd colour and difficult to get right. If you get it right in daylight it will look different under fluorescents/street lghts

Thanks guys for all the help.

@ Benny Hedges.......cheers for the effort, even the phone number

My colour is Y124P. The belly pan is gelcoat yellow and not too bad a match overall. Its brand new and I was only going to get it painted as the undertray was being done. But after hearing about the match issues im thinking ill just DIY it with cans.
Im sure it will come out fairly close too.

Re: Need paint! Shop on ebay do Y124p in NI

Post by Anotherbikerbabe »

Here is a guy who has a shop on ebay in NI! So for you in NI if it is hard to come by.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HONDA-Y124P-YELLO ... 3f0031634b

Dave says its a bit pricey, but then NI never do get a good deal when it comes to most things. I should know, I stayed there 2 yr back and forth..Since looking at doing my bellypan, I have since discovered, my paint code is R157!!!! :wtf: So somewhere down the line it turned yellow, and a lovely bike it is too, but Dave always said the bellypan looked a teeny weeny bit out of colour sync with the bike, but I can't tell, so I'll be ordering the Y124p also as Dave is doing my bellypan and my wheels for me. Decal is just about sorted I hope as Clive Andrews is on the case  Off to look at Halfords web site!

Hope this helps.

mmmmh - has it been crashed before you got it?
seems a bit odd someone would spray a red one yellow - unless it has had a new subframe with the sticker off a yellow one?

I'm not too sure Benny to be honest! I did a full check of it before buying it and it is definately not stated anywhere it was or has ever had any insurance claim made on it etc etc so maybe someone bashed the fairing up etc and decided to get a good 2nd hand one and it came along in yellow! Who knows, but it is immaculate on the fairings and tank etc, so maybe that's why lol, looking really good for its age. It is a lovely colour, polishes up great and beams when done so I'm ok with this. Just have to sort the bellypan out and get it painted. :D Can't remember how much you said it was for a tin of Halfords finest,I saw 12.99 somewhere on one of your posts, but for which size can? Also, do you know of any real good hardening resin to maybe go on last?
