no fuel to the rear carb
hi not to sure what im looking for apart from help my firestorm has been running well but now it has started coughing and spluttering and cutting out seems to be running on 1 cylinder ? after taking the the bike a part i noticed that there is no fuel getting to the rear carb. i have manualy filled the carb and it runs welll for about 500 meters then starts to play up again does any one know what the problem is and can any 1 give me some help and advice on what to do many thanks Barry

check the pipe isn't kinked or trapped somewhere.
there isn't a separate feed to either carb so either it's a problem with the supply pipe between the tap and the carb, or the float is stuck . needle valve blocked.
how did you manually fill it btw>
wonder if the fuel tap diaphragm has fell apart and blocked the pipe up..
have you had the tank off lately? check you havent pinched the pipe.

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

it was a friend who manually filled the carbs + if you use the small pipe to blow in to the tank it pissed fuel every where would this happen if the fuel tap diaphragm has fell apart ??? the tank is off at the min the carbs have been off the float seems to be fine but not sure what im looking for if they are faulty

if you have the offending carb off, fist check the fuel pipe is ok , not blocked or perished, take the bowl off the carb carefully.
holding the carb(s) the right way up - the way they sit when they're on the bike, attach (attack lol) the fuel pipe where it feeds the carb and blow down it gently.
it should pass air through the needle valve above the float.
if you Gently lift the float on it's pivot, it will lift the needle valve and cut off the air.
if that works then all is ok, just put it back together and try it again.
if it still doesn't work take the tap apart and see if the diaphragm is bust, but tbh if it was faulty fuel would flow all the time and not just when the engine is turning.
was no fuel in the carb at all???
are you sure it's not just blocked jets?
poke a brush bristle through it - not a pin or a drill!!!
if you're not sure what you are doing read the shop manual first - theres a good section on fuel faults.

A Common mod is to take out the diaphragms. Actually cut out the middle and leave the outside as a gasket. Then you don't need the vacuum pipe from the carbs so block it off. This then converts it to a free flowing tap.
Anyway, I have a spare fuel tap if you want it... It was working fine when I took it off my bike and replaced it with one I modified. PM me if you want it...
