Noob hello and help

First off a big hello to all you guys and gals
Getting my first bike in a long time and chose a VTR1000 which i should be picking up tomorrow, really looking forward to gettin it and getting out this year, its in good nick and low miles, i will add pics this afternoon as i have them on the desktop at home, give you all a look
Got a few questions, as im not riding it back due to insurance etc im gonna transit it in the back of my high top renault master van, luckily i carry machines around all day and it has a long ramp but once in the van whatts the best way to strap or carry it, has anyone done this before. Seems a bit much to pay a courier for 25 miles
Should i lie it down or stand it up and use the lorry straps

ayup matey welcome to the forum, just put it on its sidestand and strap it down, bungie cord round the front brake lever, that'll do it! (ive shifted a fair amout of bikes in the back of me mates van) wouldnt lie it down!!

Nice you joined before you got your bike 
When I bought my fella his Storm, we transported it back from Preston in a van as no ins sorted in time, so we did the bungee thing and also tied it down to tie down points with ratchet straps. It never budged all the way back.

tbh if its not too far use daysinsurance and gety a days insurance....
or ebike and insure it for a month.
its cheaper than getting a van

thanks for the warm replies, getting worried about the move of the bike, thought about insuring her for the day but typical its RAINING
Gonna use the van and bungie the brake and stick it on the side stand

Nice bike! I think for the sake of a few quid, you MUST get some ratchet tie downs, get yourself to lidl or something, even if you only use them once, it's assuring to know the bike won't go over in the van.

When I was moving house had my GT750 Suzuki in the van, saw it start to fall over. Handlebars hit me on shoulder, couldn't move out of the way because the seatbelt held me back so I would recommend tie it to something in the van

Hello and welcome, I would suggest getting someone to drive the van, and u sit oo here all the way. Your first ride will be in the dry.

last bike i picked up i took the front wheel, seat, panels & battery off and threw it in the back of my passat on it's side!
ok, it wasn't a storm, just a chinky 125 but i was surprised it fitted in so easy.
bloody hard work getting it back out tho...
hope it was an uneventfull journey in the van!
