A quich hello

Post by Darknomad »

hi people im a london uk based vtr rider
i had a choice of a vfr or a vtr for commuting to work
a vtr ticks more box's
ive owned a few bikes in the past but this is my first 1000 and a V twin

i hit a diesel patch at around 15 mile an hour and damaged the right side of her already

sods law eh never had a serious accident of any kind before
so have placed a wanted thread for a right side yellow faring part or hope to get a link to anywhere where i could get one that aint from hong kong with crazy postage :D
anyway things will get better and i hope to have her on the road A.S.A.P

a quich hello to you too :biggrin

sh1t luck on the drop
had a look on ebay and the nearest is a right side in red for £90 8O
when i dropped mine i got the whole fairing for half that so i suggest you just bide your time as they do crop up now & then - keep checking egay.
unless someone has one here?

if you need to respray one, look under the seat for the paint code & halfords can match it for you, assuming they have a holts colourmatch station instore...
dont bother trying to match it off the shelf.

good luck

avoid it like the plague bud - every one i know who's bought a chinese fairing has either sold it on or it's still in the shed.
very crap quality and fit.
just gaffer tape it and wait till the right one comes along at the right price.

i think they are for the sp1 & 2 with twin headlights.

you could pick up a race fairing for about £80, complete.
like this one.... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0568935287
lighter than the oem fairing, but would need cutting out for headlamp etc

I remember the Chelsea Bridge bit many a moon ago (a fair few dispatchers from the city circuit days in the 80's used to go) but I never bothered. I'd had enough of London after 9 hours to be honest :) The Ace is open every day/night but we're not badge wearing regulars as such, rather we tend to look out for the odd 'event night' and pass by. The fellas I go there with quite often video each other tearin it up and down on the roundabouts in Park Royal tryin to get their knee down. Well, until one dropped his

Hi Darknomad

Welcome to the forum and the life of VTR owners. Bad luck on your tip off, b8stard lorry drivers overfilling their tanks probably. I passed on on Tuesday morning Black cat Roundabout A1 / A421 spilling diesel out of his tank likes it's water!!! Waiting for some poor rider turning right to slip and possible end up going across a dual carriageway roundabout

can you not just polish them out?
the right (clutch) casing is the dear one. expect to pay £50+ off ebay unless you get lucky.
you will need a new gasket as well (davidsilverspares or wemoto) & it's best to change the water pump o ring as well as it's probably not been off before and will be well flat.

the other (timing) side casing you can pick up for 25-35 for a good one off ebay.

Or as I've done, stick on a lovely Kevlar one form Germany. Hides really good scrapes....

Carbonadi, they're called.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
