Ok I need to natter with some one that is good wid 12v electrics. I've a new project in mind but require some help on some of the products i'm going use.
It will entail solar power to replace an oximiser as no electric is around where I park the bike. Plus i'm gonna be off my feet so to speak for some time to come, I was gonna try and get it sorted before this happens so the batterydon't get flat.
Hope some one around here can help.
Cheers
Rick

Re: Any budding 12v Sparkies
just buy a 12v solar charger from maplins - tenner
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=98358
they do a couple of better ones too, up to £69 for the top one, but if you just need a trickle charger this will do.
comes with all the leads etc, but if you browse their online catalogue you will probably find the same plug as the one on your optimate to save fkin about with croc clips.

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

I already have one of them, they dont regulat and monitor the battery when fill, they keep trying to supply juice.
I need to fit a charger / regulator that works on the same princible to that of the oximiser. Plug it in and forget it when not using the bike. They only provide 0.6A when supplying power to the battery and stops when it's at it's maximum charge.

maybe you could use your existing solar charger with a car battery and a 12v - 240v inverter to power your optimate?
bit of a long way around it like but at least then you'd have a power outlet near the bike,
i got a 150w inverter for in the car, to charge my laptop and cordless tools - works great, even used a mini kettle off it for a brew
