cigarette lighter socket

Post by doggit »

just browsing around the net looking at how to wire a cigarette lighter socket onto the bike, and found this http://www.accumate.co.uk/it020002.htm, so for anyone who has an optimate fitted on the bike, and wants a socket for satnav, phone ect this is ideal, as the bike already has the optimate connetor on the battery, this just plugs in the same way as the optimate charger, just ordered myself one off amazon,

Just so you know, that isn't a cigarette socket. It's a "din" or "hella" type socket. Similar to a fag socket but the plug part actually locks in place when inserted so it cant fall out, unlike the fag socket in your car, which makes it ideal for using on a bike. BMW and Triumph have them fitted as standard. Your fag lighter may fit or you might need to get an adaptor.

I just taped up a rubbish one out of Halfrauds and wired it direct to the battery, now have an inline fuse waiting to be connected- one day.
Powers the Satnav, anyway.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Had this one made up for me. Has a 10amp inline fuse and wired straight to the battery.
