Adjustable MFW Footrests

Post by Mender »

After much deliberation I have decided to fit lower footrests.
I had a replacement left knee(Titanium and very sparky! ) in Feb this year and have been trying to get back on a sports bike since. Unfortunately new knees don't bend like the original and I have managed to get 130degrees and no more!
The Firestorm seat to footpeg height is rather limited, and in a bid to ride it and change gear(this is a real problem when the knee is at max bend), I have tried a seat raise cushion, this put me too high and too much weight on wrists, fitted 1998 VFR bars, but still was "not right". I can ride without the cushion for about an hour but then it is all too much!
So! MFW adjustable footpegs from M&P, £94.00 delivered, they should be here this week. If the rain stops I'll be able to try them out at the weekend and let you know what they feel like.

Mender, shame about the knee making it hard to fit on a sports bike, good luck with the conversion, keep us updated how it works.

Mender, LotusSevenMan has a pair of these on his bike. If you want to ask him anything about them you can send him a PM.

I hope they do the trick for you, and make it easier to ride the bike.

M8 ... knee won't bend properly? It should have better articulation than the mark 1 knee. My pal got full movement in his but did have to go through a lot pain and physio to achieve it.
The force is strong with this one!!!

Swagger, your mate is extraordinary, I have the most bend possible at 130 degrees, usual bend is 90 - 110 I spent a few grand at a specialist physio complete with personal trainer and physiotherapist for two weeks to get this amount of bend! The consultant was astonished at achieving 130 degrees.

Anyway all fitted, bit of a pain lining up gear lever and brake pedal (anticipated!) It is now very comfy and fits beautifully. I think the next step is to alter the gear and brake pedals by removal and a bit of ali welding to make a bit more room for my size 11s. No more aching knee though! yippee :D
