Hi Paul,
For me it is a combination of things, firstly I lusted after one for 8 years :( and as mike says "The Grunt" not that I use it to it's full potential. The handling seems to get better as you go faster or it installs more confidence in you, which ever you prefer. I personally find it more comfy than the storm, and also for the looks, it is a classic "one to tell the grand children"about.
Are you planning one?

Cheers

Allan

ps, I forgot about the highly addictive air box howl, which can produce a few nervous moments as you approach corners a bit too hot, after giving it just a "wee bit more".

Its a superb bike-ticks all the boxes for me.

Still feels fresh, looks the biz, sounds ace and just seems a bit special for a Jap bike. Handlings mega planted.

I love it 8)

It isnt, thats why I swapped from the SP2 to a GSXR. Dont get me wrong, the SP2 is a brilliant bike and I must have tried out 20 bikes in the hunt for a suitable replacement (including the latest bling) but the K5/K6 gixxer thou is a better all round bike (apart from brakes). Sorry but I wont lie to you, if you had said a blade I could have kept stum but you actually wrote GSXR. Heresy i know, I still love twins and will always have a special place for the SP. 8) I know I will be alone with this view on this site but hey, I never been afraid of controversy. 8) Stay safe

Think I understand you...........I had a GSXR 1000 K6 from new, and to be truthfull it was great.....BUT, AND ITS A BIG BUTT.........BORING BECAUSE IT WAS TOO GOOD. it did everthing better than me, it lacked the soul of the V twin. I suppose thats why I'm looking at the storm rather than the SP, going fast just isn't enough.

I want something I can play with to make better, dont think I could do a lot to a SP..................

Yep I see your point and i totally agree with areas of your arguement (all you can do to an SP is make it shiny and even more focussed) . Funnily enough that was my reasons for changing the SP. It is a single minded machine and on the right day it was THE best bike for the job but I like to vary my riding, roads and destinations so the focussed Vtwin is a pain in the ass for slow 50s and 30s. I came back some days thinking that was sh** purely because I couldnt stretch its legs due to the location/geography/speed limits and the fuelling is a bast. The GSXR does everything brilliantly plus it has the capability to deal with the boring bits without annoying the crap out of me. As per usual though in a money no object world then the SP would be sitting next to my Gixxer  .
