Petrol Tank

I've seen the VFR tank replacement mod......doesn't look the best and seems not to be plug and play has anyone experimented with other options such as an undertray tank or some custom made tank.....why

Cause its not funny when ur in darkest wales and ur mates r1200 does 200 miles and u don't plus you left the petrol stop 12 down the road thinking u have 20 more miles only for the light to come on and spluttering occurring...............

what can be done? Doesn't anyone on the forum build tanks or know someone who'd do some for decent costs?

Are there no plastic tanks we could fit from something else?

19l tank and have had well over 200 miles out of a tankfull several times.
personal best so far was 214 before filling up.
last 20-30 mile is worrying like... only ever run it dry once though and that was cos i forgot to connect the level sensor up & the light was on all the time.

just work out what it does to the litre and see how much you are putting in from the lamp.
ive usually got 5-6L left when the light comes on, which is easy 50+ miles.
depends how it's ridden.
keeping under a ton it gets 150+ to a tankfull easy.

certain members here do not believe it can be so economical, but that's cos they'd have to screw the nackers of theirs to keep up with mine
(but saying that, it's not so frugal with the 50 pilots in lol.... on 45's with mixture set weak it was brill on petrol but not the smoothest of rides below 3k)

re the bigger tank - you'd have to fit something wider i reckon, but to do that you'd need to be using different bars, like renthal sport bars, otherwise the bars would touch the tank - mot failure ;)

I've run mine to the light on (90 ish or 100 just about) seems to do that whether I crack it lol or whether drive it normal...ish......

Can't get nose up because of the weight restriction from the owner..........

I may try putting a can on the back and just running ere dry...to see almost exactly sort of what I'd get.......but don't want the same principle as my hornet which was a dead cert at 130 until the day it did 92...on reserve and I was no where near station......

It's not funny though when you've just got your moves and then you need to stop for .......petrol stop....instead of a bladder stop....

Thanks anyway....it's a bit of challenge I'll see what I have can do maybe some bmw plastic tanks might get underneath.... the rear end...
