Test rides on a couple of trumpets. 675R and 1050 triples. The 1050 was sweet.

You haven’t got time for test rides Nic, you have a decision to make on new leathersfreeridenick wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 6:48 pm Test rides on a couple of trumpets. 675R and 1050 triples. The 1050 was sweet.

Stripped as much as I could off the Tuono to take it up (about 6 miles) to my bike butcher for him to check the valves. It's going on a SORN over the Winter for a refresh and complete check-out. Fluids, filters, bearings, brakes, everything I can think of. All of the fixings came out of the seat and tank, plastic side covers off the engine, side fairings off, silly seat hump and mirrors removed plus anything not absolutely essential to ride the thing. It felt like a different bike. More responsive, noticably so. I'm guessing it's down to the mirrors which are fairly chunky items wide on the bars. I might look for smaller lighter alternatives to try and keep that feeling.
I replaced my KTM 390 Duke with a 950 Ducati Multistrada in May this year as my back was just too painful. The Ducati is nice and squidgy and worked well on the Northumberland run but every time I got back on the Tuono I was reminded what a sensational bike it is. My back's got a lot better over the last few months. Lots of gym work and Pilates has really made a difference. A revised diet and shedding loads of weight has helped as well. The Tuono will get a lot more use in the future. It's got almost 30k mainly trouble free miles on it now which can't be bad.

No, but I might weigh what I took off. I doubt it's very much.

Decided the bike has to go. Well nearly decided. I was hoping I could buy something else and see how I felt, but I haven't got enough space for two bikes and I need to be sure of my budget. It's a shame but it's not the bike I need.

That is a shame after all your hard work, time and money you have put into your Storm. What are you missing Nickfreeridenick wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2024 3:58 pm Decided the bike has to go. The ability to carry some luggage, it's only really happy cracking on and there are a few niggles that could be fixed. But mostly I now want to be riding rather than spending time in the garage. I've spent way more time, even this year, fiddling rather than riding.sirch345 wrote:That is a shame after all your hard work, time and money you have put into your Storm.
