Air Filter

Post by pinkyfloyd »

Right lads and laddettes of the Firestorm world. I've an Oil change coming up and will be doing it myself (How card can it be?). Got the oil, filter, sump washer and oil filter tool to get it all done and I thought while I'm at it I might as well see about changing the air filter so I'm wondering if anyone can give me step by step advice as to how to get through this ordeal?

If someone has posted a link to it and can lay their mouse on it without too much stuggle (Already searched air filter with no luck) could they paste it below for me?

Cheers
pinky

Cheers bud. Thought I should mention its a '99 storm. If I remember its a vac operated petrol tank so is there anything I should take special care of? I wont be doing it until I need to fill up again because knowing me I'll end up covering myself with petrol or something equally as stupid.

just for reference the top can be a pig to get off because of the snorkel near the handlebars, thus can be difficult to refit, also the two screws either side of the snorkel are a pain, so I would suggest some grease on the srew head to hold it to the srewdriver whilst lowering into its location.

You don't need to turn the fuel tap off to remove the tank as the tap will be closed by the diaphragm and only opens when there is a vacuum from the engine.

A bit of blue tack comes in handy to keep the front airbox cover screw on the end of the screwdriver and stop it falling through if dropped.
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!
