Oil filters
Going to be doing my own service soon and wondered if there's any advice on which one - HiFlo, Vesrah, Filtrex, K&N etc as prices range and I'm of the view you get what you pay for!
Re: Oil filters
Difficult to know how good any one make is, because most people don't' stick to just one make, and then, if an engine fails, it's hard to pin down what parts contributed.
But one or two people have reported pinholes and small leaks; maybe if they remind us which filters it is we could see if there's a pattern....
My own view? as long as you stick to a reputable make, there's nothing much in it.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
Re: Oil filters
i tend to use champion filters from halfords, they are a reasonable price and usually in stock, with me not being the most organised person this counts for a lot lol, not having a bike shop anywhere near doesnt help either.
Re: Oil filters
Busters currently have a deal with Mobil1 oil at £30.69 with a free filter.
That'll be plus delivery, though.

Re: Oil filters
saw on fleabay that they've got castrol or silkolene and filter at £29.99/£27.99 free delivery, thought that was pretty fair.
Re: Oil filters
Deffo dont use the Champion filters from Halfrauds!
I did on my last change and within 50 mile the black finish had started to peel away, which of course led to it rusting away like a good' un!
Fitted a K&N a few weeks back and its spot on, no chipping at all! £10 off ebay with magnetic sump plug!

Re: Oil filters
I have a Hiflo one. Oil filters and oil filter. Designed for a specific job. I cant see how different makes do that differently. With an air filter i can understand the differences, (some designed to let aditional air in etc) but an oil filter is generic. Paying for the name.
And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes, I'll see you on the dark side of the moon.
