Clutch let go for a second

Post by Billinjah »

sitting in traffic today just as i increased the revs from idle to pull away the storm surged forward even though the clutch was still pulled fully in, can't see any signs of a leak. Seemed fine for the rest of the day. clutch operation seems fine not grabby or anything doesn't slip either. Any ideas thanks for any help.

join the club lol.... it has happened to a few of us... mine included.
the cause is a mystery so far.... i have work to do on mine and i know tony mon is keen to find an answer to this as well.
just out of interest.... do you have an ignition advancer fitted?

anyone else who has this problem, can they confirm if they have an advancer too pls....
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Check fluid level, it might be that the slave cylinder has a slight weep.
Or that the clutch basket bearing is getting tired, allowing the basket to run out of true and engage the plates a bit harder.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

No advancer fitted I know of how would i check? Fluid level is fine. It's as though it lost hydraulic pressure for a second rode like a granny for rest of the day as the front wheel came off the ground when it happened!

Yep, same.
Quite hard to describe, but you for sure notice it if your bike is affected.
As you say, you learn to ride round it easily enough.
