done me thumb in now.

Post by alec »

hi all, was busy building a fence in the garden to keep the dog from crapping outside the backdoor when ripping down some wood on my table saw the bloody thing grabbed me and decided to cut the top of my left thumb off (well almost, was held on by a tiny flap of skin),spent the evening in maidstone a&e thinking a couple of stitches and home i go but no they xrayed it and found the bone from knuckle to fingertip smashed into half a dozen pieces so they kept me in on an I V drip of antibiotics and transferred me to east grinstead today, a plastic surgeon cut away what they called "manky skin and flesh" saving the tip of the thumb as it was being fed blood by the tiny flap of skin, they then sewed it back together putting stitches through my thumb nail to hold the tip on, the bone apparently is not a worry as it will eventually heal somehow. only got one picture which i might upload later depends if i can stomach it lol.

hopefully tomorrow i can finish the fence if my girlfriend lets me.

Oh dear.

I stabbed myself with a stanley knife yesterday cutting the top off a bottle of loctite. Wouldn't be so bad but I had been working safely with the angle grinder a couple of minutes before then I injure myself like that. Whats that all about?

Anyway, hope it heals soon. Sounds bloody painful. And get the picture up  (sorry, there isn't a smiley that's holding half a thumb up).

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

I got woken up while having a nap, it was a bit sudden.

Still, never mind.

Shame about your thumb, though, best not break down and want to scrounge a lift from a passing car.....

With a bit of luck the dog's got out through the missing panel, so problem solved.

Sorry to hear that Alec. A speedy recovery to you.

Oh, I've got my ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) reconstruction operation at the end of the month! Off the bike for a few weeks in July but rather that than not have an ACL at all. Woo hoo. :D
