Braced swing arm

Post by tony.mon »

I finally collected the braced swing arm, and will see if i can fit it over the weekend.
Could do with a clean and polish, but I'll fit it first to make sure everything works with the carbon undertray and chain/sprockets.
Not sure if the rear brake line will need to be longer, but we'll see.

The new arm will need to have bobbins fitted as well.

Is it a vtr arm thats been braced ? when i put a brace on my vtr arm i needed a cdr900 rear brake line and caliper. I'm looking at doing an under arm brace on my project vtr using the main swinging arm i have left from the cbr900 that i took the brace off.

Yep, vtr arm with cbrrrw/y brace welded on.
I'm using the cbr brake mounting plate, which I hope will allow the vtr caliper to mount up ok, but we'll see.
Dry assembly today, so the bike's not off the road too long.

Haven't finalised the finish yet, it will need mirror polish and lacquer, or powder coating once I know it all fits and works ok.

Anyone know where I could get nicer chain adjusters?
Preferably with paddock stand hooks built in.

Might as well fit a shark's fin as well while I'm there and the drill's out.

I prefer the look of an underslung one, but it would foul the shock linkage and bellypan.
Done now, in any case.

Braced swing arm

Can't wait to see the final result - I have an almost identical collection if parts as Tony in my shed. I've gone for the CBR caliper and bracket too. I'm tempted with black powder coat - and spray the 'Blade hugger orange to match...
