Is the fuel light on my 1997 storm Supposed to come on with the ignition and go off when It's running?
Only asking because I have never seen it come on yet but I fill it up at 100 miles so maybe the level is too high?
If I disconnect the plug to the sender should the light come on?
Thanks

Re: fuel light
Looking at the instruction manual, it says to check if the light is workig you need to remove the 2 pin plug thats under the seat and short out the terminals with a wire, then switch the ignition on.
if the light comes on then hey presto it works, if it does not then the led may have gone or there is an open circuit.
mine will come on earlier than it needs after the bike has been on its side stand.
dont worry, never use mine, go by the trip meter, when 80 miles comes up I know I have 40 miles to a garage, if brimmed to the fuel neck previously.

Re: fuel light
if you have a 19L tank you should get beyond 100m with out teh light comming on, so that may be why.
As Bazza says, use the trip meter after every fill up, and dont wait for the light, fill up at 100 and you will be OK unless you are on a track day.
the other test of the light and the real reserve, is to take a 5L can of petrol on the pillion and ride till the light comes on, then ride till dry..........then you are calibrated on what safety margin you have
