Re: MPG
since sorting the fuelling on mine i now also get 100 mile to the light. maybe a little more on a motorway run, and as little as 63 miles when chasing a blade the other week.
thats on a 19L tank, but has the 16L level switch which goes off at 14L ish.
with the needles (dyno needles) on next to top clip and 180 / 185 mains i regularly got 140+ to the red light with personal best of 220+ miles on a tank, though it was on fumes when i filled up!
that was loaded up with camping gear, limping back home at 40mph in the rain...
was talking to a chap last night who said he had a firestorm & said they were crap on fuel, 75 miles to a tank and wouldnt do over 140mph....
i said err, you got a duff one there mate. thats not a healthy bike at all.
dunno about you lot, but mine does more than that in 5th (on gps)
on stock gearing, you should be doing a true 140 at 7800rpm in top... if his struggled to get there it makes me wonder if his cam timing was 180 out

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Re: MPG
I don't bother with MPG. I rate it on Smiles per Mile.....If you worry about MPG get a CG125. If I need fuel I find a petrol station. If I want a bloody big grin on my face I use the tank up a s quick as poss. I need another hit of unleaded as we speak.....type!
Re: MPG
i don't know the history of my bike and its the first v twin i've owned... so was just wondering if it sounded about right on mpg... just incase the previous owners have messed about with it... i've just ordered some manual cct's... trying to sort the most important part out first... got a chain chatter and i think its running abit lumpy... but once the engine is sorted i move on to the handling... thats already been messed with cause its set up different from my mates stock one....
RIDE EM, DONT HIDE THEM,
Re: MPG
Sounds a Bit thirsty, you might need to check that the choke is closing, or the air filter is not clogged upbullie23 wrote:i'm only getting about 75 before the warning line comes on... how can i improve my mpg... my bike as only just had a oil change and filter...

Re: MPG
if it has a K&N then it will have also had the jets changed and the needles raised. you may want to open the carbs up and see what has been fitted. could be that you need to drop the mains 1 size.
what colour are the plugs, any clue that they are a bit rich?
