clutch kits.

Post by tattoo »

can anyone recommend a clutch kit?

i've looked at these....barnett...surflex....ebc

my storm doesn't need a clutch yet but with 40,000miles on the clock i thought i'd fit a new one while the rear subframe gets powdercoated over the winter layup...

maybe. but you would need to replace the metal plates as well.
if you inspect them you will probably find they are blued and warped... imo that is the cause.

ebc + uprated springs it is then...cheers benny

mine doesn't snatch and tbh it only screeches when i show porsche drivers who's the faster away from lights lol..it does however rattle until i pull the lever in but tbh i haven't heard a quiet clutch yet..

one more thing...whats the engine casings made of...they're looking grubby now so i wouldn't mind painting them...does it need to be heat resistant paint??

doesnt really get hot enough for heat resistant paint m8.
the clutch, timing & crankcases are ally but the sprocket cover / clutch slave is magnesium.

do not use alkali / caustic to clean them lol! they will dissolve! :Beer Popcorn:

EBC Kevlar friction plates will take any abuse you throw at them without slipping, even on a tuned engine, but they don't cure a grabby clutch.
Less than £70 a set, if you shop around, complete with uprated springs.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
