Engine tick.. not CCT's

Post by Scott Malcolm »

Anybody have a suggestion? I'm getting a slight rapping noise in the front of the engine. Could this be just a timing thing? Valves? I yoinked out both the CCT's and they are in fine working order.

Does this mean you have stuck the same one's back in or you have replaced them?
My front was rattling/slapping only as the engine warmed up. Not when cold and not when hot. After putting the little locking key into the mechanism and removing the tensioner I had a play with it and could find nothing wrong. There was loads of adustment left.
I changed the bugger anyway because I had aready bought one and now the noise has gone.
I guess the other one was backing off as it warmed up so I,ve binned it as I could never trust it now

Yea, I put the old ones back in. I haven't had the $$ to buy the aftermarket ones. It seems to happen mostly at idle speed, but sometimes it happens under 30mph too. I just should replace those dang things and be done with it.
