Gel seat v Air cushion?

Post by Image »

Anyone tried both? I understand that Butt Buffer do the best gel seats and Air Hawk do the best air cushions. Which one is best?

i've heard nothing but good things about this fella, the downside is he's not cheap, but you get what you pay for i suppose, i'll be contacting him soonish because i want to start doing some long trips, theres a really cheap standard seat on ebay at the mo, its tempting to buy it and send it off to mr archer to work his magic.

I don't fancy sending my seat off somewhere no matter how good they are. I prefer the throw on ones. I've tried butt buffer gel seats and they did make a difference on my kwak. Never tried air cushions though.

Rubberrings are good but too bulky. I find this takes up less room in the tankbag........

A bit like Autosolvo, but doesnt' burn as much!

I'd look at the gel insert option. Had one in the past and found it to be very good. Not that I would do massive mileages on the storm as the tank range is shite. I don't find the seat too bad. I can go around three hours on it before I need to get of. The fact my bladder will only do around 2 hours normally dictates my riding habits........

Marty, that exactly what I did, bought a 2nd seat for £20 and the seller posted it direct to Tony, I then sent him lots of marked up photos of what shape I wanted [and what I didnt want], and where I wanted the gel pads. He then created a seat which is very close to the lines of the standard one, just a bit taller, and he does a very good job.

The cost is based on the number of gel pads you fit, I think it was £60 each [rider and passanger] for gel and £60 for the recovering and foam changes. you can see the pictures in the pimp my ride section.

When / if I sell my bike, I will put the stock seat back on [and the back shock, and the pipes, and the rearsets, and the fork brace etc], and sell it on here to get some of my money :)

Do you not have some old school master leather craft's man local?

there is a gent near me in Horwich, he looks nearly dead but can work his magic

Going to get a second seat and get it covered with black goats suede and re-foamed in the summer for the sunny days (fingers crossed we get some)
