Re: Whats the best road you've ridden, home or abroad??
Can't name a single road, but the following are my short list.
1) the A6 from Kendal over shap to Carlisle
2) the A483 from Crossgates to Newtown
3) the A44 from Aber to Rhayader
4) the A701 from Moffat to Edinburgh ..the devils beef tub
5) the A702 thornhill to Elvanfoot...Dalveen pass
Sorry I forgot A5004 From Matlock to Whaley Bridge .. Goyt valley....the cat & fiddle and snake pass would also be on there if it weren't for the speed cameras and helicopters....only a matter of time before the Goyt valley get the same focus, then it will be spoiled as well

Just down loading that to see if it is any good
Added a few already, need to see if it develops into a good database. Claims to link to the map program on the iPad, but didn't, soot still has some glitches in its operating system, but looks ok with at least of the ones I mentioned already loaded by someone else

Seeing as I started this, mine are, in no particular order..
B258, Monschau - Nurburg, Germany. Really varied, with tight twisty, and fast open sections. Very little traffic or plod.
Fluelapass/Umbrail Pass ( I think thats its name ) from Davos - Stelvio...Mindblowingly good !!
B500 Baden Baden - wherever.
Nurburgring, which is officially a one way toll road now. You'll never find a better 13 miles of tarmac to scare yourself shitless on, highly recommended !!

The Antrim Coast Road in Northern Ireland. Sea on one side, Antrim glens on the other. Scenic it is. Fast it isnt.
England land I have found the A272 from Haywards Heath to Alton is fantastic. Including a little railway bridge where I managed to get air 2 up!
The A339 from Baising stoke to Alton. Its not fantastically long but it is smooth, sweeping and when I went up there with Clivey from the forum to see Brit Floyd we both agreed that the road was amazing. Just a shame the traffic ruined it.

And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes, I'll see you on the dark side of the moon.

That is an absolutely blissful 12 miles of riding heaven. We stay near Crossgates (Llanbister) most years and do that stretch several times.AMCQ46 wrote:Can't name a single road, but the following are my short list.

In France, The Route Napoleon is also a favourite of mine - Digne-les-Bains to Grasse
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

Re: Whats the best road you've ridden, home or abroad??
Had lots of fun on lots of roads but i really like the kirkstone pass ..(out of season when theres no feckin caravans ) some good roads to the tan hill too and Sedborough Ingleton etc ...but by far the best and quietest roads ive ridden are in bonny scotland (couldnt tell you where i was exactly but at some point in the 10 hour ride we visited fort william ) if you are riding with people with local knowledge they can take you to the most amazing roads.. no coppers no traffic = no speed limit ..happy days ...and the scenary is beautiful...only down side to the trip was in scotland it rains lots and riding the storm with a possy of zx9s with bigger tanks.. had to carry fuel as the more remote we got the rarer petrol stations became
