On the way to work tonight, had a rather nice chat with a copper who was out on chav patrol around ipswich town center, i was just pulled over having a fag and he drove over got out and chatted to me about my bike, turns out hes looking to buy a storm and wanted to know more about them :)
propper nice guy, chatted to him for about 15 mins, when we were rudely interupted by a speeding chav who he flagged down, and booked while i was standing there!
some nice plod around still with respect for bikers :)

There's good and bad in all walks of life, I have met some good coppers in my time and have met some not so good ones too.
But they are all human out of the uniform and some do like to ride bikes, just look at the guys who do "Bike Safe" days.
They are doing a great job in my eyes....

I have generally found traffic to be OK, better if they aren't in the middle of giving me a ticket 8O

I have been on the rides in Westminster against the bike parking charges. These are escorted by the plod. At one the Inspector in charge made a little speech about how well behaved most had been on previous rides. As I had not seen any problem riding I asked him about it. It turned out that bit wasn't to do with us. He had had to speak to one of his lads for showing off, popping wheelies on a marked bike in Brewer Street in central London was most frowned upon!

So they are human after all.

will never forget, in the early 80s there used to be an old disused airfield close to my house, and on weekends it was rammed with bikes...
there was a 1/2 mile straight and a short taxiing circuit which was great fun for racing on :)
plod regularly turned up - at that time they were still on the old norton interstate commandos, which i used to love, and now and then one came along on the new bmws....
they used to muck in with us hooning round the track and wheelying the length of the straight, much to everyone's amusement :)

i used to despise plod of any description, probably cos i was always up to no good lol... these days i dont have a problem with them but still twitch when i see one in my mirrors lol

the trouble is that if you want to be one 1st place that might make you a bit suspect/bullied at school etc etc

We`ve got a bike cop round here who is involved with the bikesafe scheme. Seems like a good lad. He comes out on most of the wednesday bike nights we have in the better months. Riding with him, he has slowed us down at the right time when plod has the speed cameras out and he has encouraged us to indulge in "spirited" but safe riding when the conditions allow. However, he is never off duty and is always on the lookout for anything/anyone that is as not as it should be. Nature of the beast I suppose.

My findings are similar to yours billy, there are good cops out there and they love their bikes too...they just need to get the message across about where it is safe and appropriate to use the throttle, and if they can see you are applying these rules, then they are going to be reasonable.

But you are right, they are never off duty.

Hence the obscene amount of overtime claimed.

"Yes, Sergeant, another 164 hour week on my timesheet this week...., just authorise that for me, would you? Ta."

But without all the overtime earned how would I have got all those exotic parts on the VTR over the years.......

Oh and I don't remember much bulling at school lumpyv

To be fair cops are like anybody else, there are good ones and there are bad ones, sadly the bad ones always leave a more lasting memory that the good ones.

I don't think that some of our newer members knew that you are a policeman. :D

Most I have met are absolutely fine. I meet few because I don't attract theor services. I feel sorry for them when they have to deal with the sort of scum I see on Roadwars etc. More Tasers I think.

Just Tazers? Personally I think they should be armed the amount of sh1t they have to put up with! Trouble is they would have to fill out sh1t loads of paperwork thanks to the H&S Nazis every time they pick it up.......
