CCT replacement/ alternator bungs

I am currently looking at doing my cct's thanks to advice from all on the site, & wondered if anyone had found suitable replacements for the notoriously awkward to remove alternator bungs? If not, I may have found the solution.
I have found a company that may do suitable replacement s/steel ones. I will contact them and find out how much etc & see if I can get some samples. Would anyone else be interested if they turn out to be suitable & a reasonable price?

You mean the generator and the cheepo made of chease hex cap over the generator nut.
You may gather some interest here, especially if they can be made in optional colours.

Is'nt there a reason the 'alternator bungs' are made from the same material as the gen cover, expansion rates ect.....

Ally is cheaper than stainless. Even Mr. HONDA makes things to a price.

Mr Honda ALWAYS makes things to a price, probably all the way up to HRC stuff.

You could colour it by a degree by applying heat to it if you wanted something a bit different... from browns to blues, just don't expect it to last.

I know it is only marginal and probably no concern whatsoever but you may want to consider something non magnetic, as it may affect the field already generated in the casing with the magnets and coils etc in there...That is why I made mine from Titanium.

dcent grade stainless isn't magnetic.

That would depend on nickel content in the steel. Would that be the 316 grade your referring to Rob?

Rob is right, stainless as a rule is not magnetic. As for titainium, A: it is f**kin expensive & B: it is hard to machine! (Trust me, I have tried, I destroyed two bandsaw blades just tyring to cut a lump in half!! ) I spoke to the chap in question on friday, he said he was busy but to come & see him Monday & talk some prices. I will keep you all posted.
Any more takers? The more we get the cheaper they will be (bulk discount etc)
