diffances between 2001 & 2002

Hi all

I am looking at a 02 registered bike but it has silver wheels where the 02 model should have black wheels,now this is important because the tank cap also went up to 19 ltr's as well as other improvements.
Can anyone tell me now to spot the other tell tail pointers please, or more likely this bike is a late registered 01 model.
Can you tell from the engine number? & if so how ?

I am also going to drop this in workshop because I don't know where it should be -- sorry

I know the later ones have Black top yokes. updated clocks ( part digital ), and the Firestorm logo is on the fairing, whereas the earlier ones have it on the tank. Not 100% sure if this means its the 19L tank version, but fairly sure....

This one has silver yokes but the mileage only is shown in a digial window & the only logo on the fairing is the VTR one so on that basis it must be a later registed 2001 model, any other info greatfully recreived.

Later model will have digi clocks and fuel gauge , wing on the tank and no tailpiece decal.
The colour is a give away as well.

Theres a nice late model for sale here atm...

sounds like a late registered model as i think also it should have the hiss system on it to,the way to tell this is the key will have a transponder inside it and also just by the ignition it will say hiss

Deffo an early one.....but they ARE supposed to be more powerful.

That just about settles it - the mileage is the only thing showing in the digi box - no fuel gauge just a light & the key appears to be too flat to have a transponder in & there is writing around the ignition but it appears to be key position labeling.
Colour yellow.

hi bert, it sounds like you have a early model that was registered late, here are pics of the 2 different styles of clocks, iguess yours is the top photo, also the indicators are different with the early ones being squarer and bulkier.

The info in the previous posts have convinced me that the bike is a late registed pre 2002 model.

The earlier models made about 6hp more as well, this due to the first emissions episodes, I have ridden recently stock FY and the new ones and there is quite a difference, definately more snap in the older one.

But the newer one was a yellow one....
