just picked my sp2 up today and rode it back 200 miles - albeit on very rainy motorways & dual carriageways, so have yet to give it a thorough test....
first impressions, a lot more poke than the sp1, feels a lot smoother and more tractable.... nit wound it up fully yet as A, it was pissing down and too much traffic, B the suspension is set for a guy 5 stone heavier than me and C dont see the point in pinning it on straights, particularly under the view of a hundred cameras!

other differences ive noticed so far.... its got no hrc stickers like the sp1, the swing arm is different and more chunkier...
the clutch.... very odd. feels like a slipper clutch to me but i have yet to have a dig about.
it's very different than the storm & sp1 when rolling off the throttle.
it definately coasts, with hardly any engine braking (if any at all) & feels like its freewheeling on bearings rather than dragging them big pots up n down...

be interested to know if anyone else has noticed this???
if i roll off on the storm it will spit and bang (with my vac valves disconnected - otherwise it freewheels)
if i rolled off on the sp1 (which i miss dearly) there was definate BORRRRR from the cans & a lot of engine braking.
rolling off on the sp2, it all goes eerily quiet and it rolls on... how can i describe it??? its like if you have one roller skate on and pushing with the other leg, then lift your leg up.... thats what it feels like!

now after a quick google, some (visordown for example) say yes, it has a slipper as std.... some say b/s no it doesnt.
so im wondering if some do & some dont?
there is a slipper listed as a hrc part but its like £700????
the one ive just bought appears to be unmolested apart from the flapper servo has been disconnected & plugged.

  the only other difference i know of is the injectors are different....

sp1 & 2 differences over the storm???
90% different bike from the ground up. oh, and the headlights light up the road!
i still love my firestorm, but for different reasons.

100 - 120 miles on the firestorm was costing me £21-£24 (it likes to run on 97 but will run on 95)
same miles on sp1 was costing about £17
iirc its an 18L tank compared to 19 on the storm.... i think the most i ever put in it was 20 - 21 or so.

sp2, cant really tell yet a yesterday i got 50 mile to the light (didnt know how much was in and accidentally reset the trip before i set out from reading) then filled it for £15,
did 77 miles then topped up £11, so its doing 7.7mpL which is about the same as the sp1.

so basically, the FI is more efficient than carbs obviously but tbh if you are bothered about fuel economy get a cg125 lol.
on an average all day ride i'd fill up 3 times - if i went on the storm i'd probably spend 10-15 quid more on fuel, for the same grins.
so based on that, if you went out sat / sun every weekend you would save £1560 a year in fuel.
so say you pay £4680 for a tidy sp, in 3 years it's paid for itself.
explain that to the mrs and put it in terms of shoes and im sure she'll understand.

just fitted these to mine btw :D

SP2 did not come stock with a slipper clutch...... Actually, Honda was kind of late coming to the slipper clutch party (last of the Japanese OEMs I seem to recall) on its sportbikes....

just had cheeky kev round and intended to let him have a ride on mine as he has the same year bike but says his definately has a lot of engine braking, like the storm, and sp1.

apparently there is a 'sigma' clutch kit... bemused tbh.
taking it out in a min and will give it a proper test! :biggrin
