almost stacked it on white lines this afternoon....oops

Post by agentpineapple »

it was my fault tbh, went a bit to quick down a back street, when i hit the brakes not much seemed to happen, so i grab a bit more front brake, only for it to lock up the front and have the back swing out on me, i totally scared a cab driver coming the other way.....
anyways i eased off the brakes and it righted itself thank fook.
i might go out later and find a quiet road to do some brake testing. the only thing i can think of is i was on the white lines at the time, i really can't think of any other reason, the brakes look and feel ok, so maybe it was me fooking things up

White lines- don't do it.

We know a song about that, don't we children?
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

twas my fault guys, going a little to quick and didn't take into account the white lines approaching, so when i started to brake, i realised i was going a little to fast, so i grabbed a bigger handful of front brake, only for it to lock up/judder followed by a little slide and the back end stepping out.
all i heard the cab driver travelling in the other direction say was, fooking hell!!!
lesson learned...... i was surprised considering if got 330mm discs/braided lines. i'll have to fit the radial m/c i got from jonsey and the 98 blade calipers.
must not be so stupid in the future :eh:

It's always best to avoid painted areas, especially when braking, [also accelerating or cornering] try taking a line down the side if possible.

I'm guessing, you overcompensated with an extra handful when you were slipping on the paint, chances are when you traveled over the painted area and hit the normal road grip, you had way too much front brake, causing the rear of the bike to try and lurch around on you.
