19l Tank Question.

Post by leevtr »

Just bought one. Put it on the floor next to my original 16 ltr and I'm buggered if I can see the difference. Starting to convince myself that I've been sold another 16l, but was wondering if theres any obvious visual differences. Dont want to have it painted till I'm sure, and hoping to confirm the size without fitting it and filling it up.

19l will have a wing logo instead of firestorm sticker.

19L has a fuel outlet and no tap, doesnt need a vac pipe.

19L has a rheostat level sensor, not a float switch

And even with no logos you should see the shape is a bit different if you've got them side by side. If you can't, the look underneath and see if it has a fuel tap or a single pipe outlet ( like benny just said)

+1 on the shape, the indent bit on the top in front of the filler cap is a different shape, so if your are the same its another 16ltr

and dont use the 19L fuel sensor with the 16L fuel light set-up or you will set your bike on fire!

the 16L sensor is the same fitment - but make sure you seal up the gasket proper - blue hylomr is ideal.

Tbh, theres just a hole with 2 smaller threaded holes either side. Looks like the fuel tap from my 16l would bolt straight in. Bugger !!

youve been had then. the 16L tap wont fit in the 19L hole.

the 19L also looks wider when side by side with the 16

wombles Richard aint they!! it should be mandatory to show the underside of a fuel tank and also direct above the fuel cap so you can see any rust or crap that's showing in it

ive had two sh1t tanks off ebay in the past

mine that was 10 years old was mint inside apart from the dent on the outside, the two other tanks have been full of sh1t and rust and what looked like grit / sand inside one of them?

hope you get it sorted

We'll see. Kinda hoping the fella's made a genuine mistake, and he bought it himself thinking it was a 19. Said he bought it to fit to his bike, but sold the bike before fitting it. Plausable I suppose, we'll see. Cheers anyway.

I've managed to negotiate an almost full refund. Its deffo a 16 though, its identical to my original one. This didnt have any decals on it, so I couldnt tell till I got hold of it. Even then I had to double check on here. Still, you live and learn. If yours had the Honda wing on the tank then I'm sure yours is fine mate.
Cheers.

Thats a result then could have been tricky with not being covered via ebay doing a private deal is Allways risky, well done
At work my mate black Dan sold my other mate Wayne a car DVD player Wayne got Halfords to install it, when they turned it on it just started bellowing smoke out of it, would dan give him a refund would. He wombles and that's after he said to Wayne I guarantee it works mate, called dan a Jamaican scammer all night which made up for it

There are decent people out there after all.

After thinking I was trying to scam a free tank, the fella did his homework, realised I was right, apologised and sent a refund. Told me to keep the tank as well.

Gonna sell the tank ( not worth much but still ) and send the bloke what I get for it. Only fair really.
