Send this post to talk about scottoiler, an automatic chain oiler system i bought and fitted this week. I discovered it by a post on VTR mag (the VTR discution board in french). The guy who told about it is a reliable man (especially in technic). He give these exemples :
A friend of him, with a VFR conclued it :
First chain : 30000km
2nd chain : changed at 60000km (so 30000km life too)
3rd chain : changed and fitting of the scottoiler. Now he is at 121000km still with the same chain (61000km with this chain...)
Other exemple : a guy fitted it on his new 600 fazer, the chain is now up to 40000km, and it seems to be good…
Scottoiler is an oiling system, connected in engine vaccuum (depression?). So oil is dropping on the chain only when engine is on.
On the VTR french discution board we organized a "common buy" to have a good price. 105€ delivered at home. (arround 72£). Thinking of chain price, it's very interesting when you now that chain will last up to 2X the standard km last. And furthemore, you can forget to oil you chain every 500km or when it's raining! And you 've got an adjustement of oil flow.
