Mileage?

Post by CB_Phil »

Not sure if its been asked, sure it has, but couldnt find it doing a search.

So out for a spin w/a mate on the auld bog roads of the Wiclow mountains(most of the road was done in 3rd gear @ low revs, mate is a learner & roads are tight & lots of sheep), surprisingly the red light came on  Didnt have a clue where we were or where the closest petrol station was. When we finally got to one I filled up & too my surprise she only took 13ltrs(15miles after the light came on)! I was under the impression that it would be 14/15 & the rest to reserve

So the question is, how much should it be before the red & how long do you get on reserve
Cheers in advance

I get to between 93 and 105 miles on mine mate. Although I do have a smaller front sprocket on so might not be as accurate as standard.

The least I've ever had was 16 miles after red light came on before I had to push it to a garage so always slow down when getting near red light time also carry small bottle of petrol and syphon tube in side fairing of seat

I get 100 taking her handy, aka speed limit & 60 when pushing her on, so always worry when the red comes on. Today I got 115 before topping up & I only topped up only 13 ltrs

When you say you got 115 miles today, was the light in from 100?

Thinking about it mate 13l is about £17 ish, and that's what I would normally put in mine if the light had been on for a while.

I know what you mean, it's a few litres short of 16l.

Saying that I don't fill it to the absolute brink of overflowing. Normally to the metal bar 'thing' inside the tank.

Full a jerry can up and strap it to the bike . Fill the tank to the max and go for a ride .
Note when the light comes on .
And note when it runs out of fuel .
Use the fuel un the jerry can to get you to a petrol station .
Every bike is different and so is every rider .
This is the only way you will find out just how many miles YOU can do before YOU run out .

Don't know why, mine does 175-180 on 98 RON.

Obviously less than that if I'm going to Scotland, as it's uphill all the way.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
