Help with changing to manual CCT's

Post by alternative_vtr »

Hi does anyone who knows what they are doing fancy helping me change to manual cam chain tensioners?
I have my new Kreiger tensioners and am keen to fit them, I don't feel confident doing the job without someone in the know with me / helping me. I have read the how to's but as its crucial to do right I would prefer to have help  as in someone with me. Does anyone fancy helping me who is in the East or West Midlands? If you don't mind using your garage and tools I can come to you and give you some spondoolies as a thankyou or you can come to me? I couldn't make the workshop day (gutted) as I have to work most days, could do a Sunday or an evening depending on distance? A big grovel in advance. I can have it done at a local bike shop but would prefer to do it with a friendly biker.

i wouldve helped you out but probably a bit to far away and i'm on nights all next week. i did mine on friday and it really isnt that bigga job mate, just follow the instuctions and have a haynes manual to hand if you need pictures. and try to get the alternater nut thing off first becuase i was about 1mm from rounding mine off  but got it off and managed to get it all done without much trouble. it took me about 5 hours to do becuse every nut and bolt had been overtightened :whatever

You will find the instructions here http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=8326 a lot more accurate than a Haynes manual.

Thanks guys, I am in two minds whether I could do it myself, I could do it but would be pannicking about whether the chain skipped teeth if at wrong tdc or something
Just had a PM from someone here offering to help so if he is happy to help I will take him up on it and owe him a big one. Going to see if we can get together to change them, then it's just tyres to sort out and nothing's stopping me
