Fitting of VTR Hugger
Fitting of VTR Hugger
Guys,
I have just put this post on facebook but was wondering if anyone in this forum could give me more info.
I have got a VTR Hugger with holes on both the left and right hand side, the left side is pretty simple but I am not sure about the right side. Do I need a bracket for fitting or is it fitted without any support on that side?
Any help would be appreciated.
many thanks
Carl

Hi crrb1. The link is not working. As for your question about the hugger I am not sure, have not fitted one to mine yet. So I shall be watching this post also. I would have thought if there was mounting holes in the hugger then they would be used. Again I could be wrong but I am sure someone will say so shortly.

The link worked for me. Sorry I can't help with the solution with that particular hugger but I can post your pic to make easy for others to view.

All I can add is that I don't think that's a Firestorm hugger.
Are you sure it's not from an SP1 or SP2?

This is the RHS of my, albeit fecking filthy, hugger.
It has a horizontal surface to attach it with the rear brake line clip.

As I said before, I don't think that yours is a Firestorm hugger.

Thanks Guys,
I have sent the hugger back, the seller looked at the swing arm and someone had drilled holes in the swing arm to fit it. Needless to say I wont be drilling holes in my swing arm and the seller has agreed to take it back and refund me the whole amount.

Re: Fitting of VTR Hugger
just wondered if it came off a braced swinger, but holes look to low even for that
DOES THIS RAG SMELL LIKE CHLOROFORM TO YOU ?
Re: Fitting of VTR Hugger
Looks like the one I have, holes on the right hand side are for the bracket that fits behind & comes out underneath to bolt to the swingarm using the brake pipe holder thingamajig clip.
So yes to answer your question in roundabout sort of way, It has a bracket missing, if you haven't sent it back yet keep it & make a bracket, shouldn't be to hard to do.

Re: Fitting of VTR Hugger
Looks like a powerbronze hugger, same as I have fitted to my storm, MacV2 is correct the mounting bracket is missing , the bracket fits under the two rear brake hose mounting clips and inside the hugger see photo

Re: Fitting of VTR Hugger
Yep, Powerbronze hugger like mine. Was actually pissing about with it this morning while the rear wheel was off trying to get it to sit properly. Never really been happy with it but it does what it's supposed to.fireballxl5 wrote:Looks like a powerbronze hugger, same as I have fitted to my storm, MacV2 is correct the mounting bracket is missing , the bracket fits under the two rear brake hose mounting clips and inside the hugger see photo
Jesus Fireball yours is clean. My bracket is rusty as wombles and I had to replace the pins with s/s ones when I refitted it.

Re: Fitting of VTR Hugger
Powerbronze should be able to supply you with a new bracket.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
