+1 on that lloydie! I used nitromores to 'strip' the paint on my tank and it was crap! Even after letting it soak it I still had to chip the paint off rather than scrape the 'soft bubbled' paint off!

nitromors is sh1t since they changed the recipe. The problem is all the COSH regs and everything needs to be eco friendly these days. If you can get hold of it try Blackfrier paint & Varnish remover. But ideally you want something solvent based, but it's getting hard to find a good quality solvent these days. What are you stripping, can't you burn it off.

Did you use the Green or the Yellow tin of Nitromors?

{edit}Just been browsing the bay and this looks like good gear http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HEAVY-DUTY-PA ... 3ccb091edca bit on the expensive side though[/edit]

Why do they need to be stripped ??

If the new coating to be used has no reaction with whats on there already, why not go straight over it, obviously after a thorough clean and rub down.

I've used nitromors to strip wheels before - applying onto what you want stripped , cover with cling film and leave for a while - keep out of direct sunlight - and help remove crinkled paint with a wire brush. Repeat as necessary till all bare.

Wash thoroughly tidy up with some wet&dry , rinse again. dry , degrease and if painting mask up before using acid etch primer (with a good quality mask/respirator and decent ventilation- toxic stuff!) on a nice warm day - and don't leave too long before spraying finish coats as the primer is hydroscopic.

Alternatively get it sandblasted....

i think i will end up getting them bead blasted and then powder coated .

As i have striped and painted all my wheels myself by hand so a change may be in order .

the down sides to get them p/c is £100 and i know i could strip and paint them for half that .
Also if i get them p/c i will have to commit to white wheels :!:
and i will just have to do the frame this winter too(satin black) thats if i can get the engine out without cutting it out  .

if i do all that then i know it won't be back on the road till spring 2014 as i will want to finish it off before it makes it back on the road with a full respray and some more trick parts .

You've got to slap it on, and cover with cling film to let it soak into the paint. The tank is well painted with thick paint so you'll need to remove the top coat layer and then be prepared to repeat process again to remove the primer layer.

You do have to slap loads on and let it soak/burn for a while, cling film may also help as it keeps the fumes contained. And yes it will only do one layer at a time unless you leave it soaked for a month or two  So multiple applications are what's needed. BTBH Nitro mors is not what it used to be since they changed the recipe (COSH regs and all that). But if using Nitro mors it's important to use the right one. Yellow for lacquer and Green for paint and varnish.

Are you sure that's not confetti  Looks like there is no paint stripper on there, or hardly at all as there is no bubbling or mess.

No mate, in that pic I'd got to the 'wombles-this' stage, and started to chip the paint off with a paint scraper!

It's all done now of course but I won't be using nitro-shite again

Like a lot of paint these days, acrylic/water based, not oil based and sh1t brushing and coverage qualities. Getting very hard to find decent paint.

Your not wrong, though they are getting slightly better. I remember when the first acrylic eggshells came onto the market and they where real bad, and that was Dulux. You just need to be particular with which brands you use. The brush techniques and brushes are different too. The worst thing to do is when you lay it off, is to go back over it. And you need to work quick. I do miss the smell of the old eggshells though. I used to love getting high off them  made the day go better. A much more jovial atmosphere on site. That and a few spliffs
