Sexy New Bearings

I have new steering head bearings delivered today, I am used to the old ball race types and what a pain they are to fit, I have chased many balls across the floor .....(behave)....now I have to say what a sexy pair of bearings, all firm in my hand with a satisfying weight to size, I feel as though I want to jiggle them in my hand ....anyway they are HCM bearings from Japan sold by wemoto, delivered in 2 days. Not the cheapest but who wants the cheapest tart in the toilet block these have class.

Just be careful you don't overtighten them- you only just nip them up to take the slack out, rather than tighten to a torque setting.
Otherwise they'll be too tight and you'll weave down the road....

And anyway you'll have to retighten them after between thirty and a hundred miles, as they settle into place.

put plenty of lube, oh sorry grease. so the shaft slides in just nicely!
and as tony say don't over tighten or the action will be all wrong and may cause other issues, them sexy bearings hate being screwed with

and yes I know about how to set the tension on the Tapers, I wrote the sticky
