Why is leaked clutch fluid black?
Why is leaked clutch fluid black?
Got a small leak from my clutch reservoir which I'll rectify soon but why is the leaking fluid black?
Re: Why is leaked clutch fluid black?
It turns black as it's been exposed to air, moisture and heat, in other words hydraulic fluid needs urgent changing. And best do brake fluid at same time.
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

It probably wont help your clutch slip either. Best to do a fluid change and bleed it all off.

Re: Why is leaked clutch fluid black?
It turns black due to the small amounts of rubber from the clutch slave cylinder seals.
Mine's the same on my Mille.
Don't know why this does not affect the brake side. Try new seals / master cylinder repair kit if it bothers you or just change the fluid more regularly.

Doing regular top ups at the moment but it needs a seal kit as soon as I have the time and money.
