this oil filter any good

Post by seb421 »

Would like to get an oil change out the way while it's sunny which is rare giving the recent spell of shitty weather we have had

due an oil filter change,

Going halfords to get my oil and just wondering if this Oil filter is suitable for the storm or not, dont fancy a trip to bolton to get an oil filter from ESB

Thanks

Check the PDF fitting guide in the Halfords link you posted ;)

Don't forget one of these if you haven't got one already

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

them filters arent up to scratch mate, i'm on another forum and some bloke did a little test with a halfords one and a bmw one, left them on for a week each. the oil with the bmw filter came out clean but the oil with halfords filter came out full of carbon. its worth getting an oem TBH

Carbon? how has it got carbon built up in the engine oil?

I use them in mine sometimes, but then I change the oil pretty regularly- every 1-2K.
Doesn't need it, but I'm forever draining the oil for one job or another, and I won't put used oil back in.

I do re-use the coolant, though.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

This one is better. Same price and has a better filter, a nut shape for easy fitting and removal, tougher, and made from corosion free metal. I got one from them and it arrived next day free postage.
