big as you will need to have the front of the bike off the ground .
remove front fairing / wheel/ forks/brake callipers/yokes clipons
it can be done in a few hours if you can get the front up and have the right tools

Hmm, might leave it until Feb then when I tend to ride my bike less.

You need an angle grinder to remove the lower inner race, but it is a 2 or 3hr job if you have the tools

You should change them both, it is always the lower that will be corroded or wheelie damaged

Apparently (according to mechanic on last MOT) it's beginning to groove due to straight line motorway riding. Only the top one though he says.

You want to change to taper rollers, don't waste time re fitting the standard cup and cone bearings...and I will stil bet money that it is the bottom brg that is worn.

It's a little bit of a bigger job than it is to send a R/R back to a person who kindly loaned it to you as a favour months ago ;-)

:redface now then, now then, I thought Jimmy Saville was dead ! Well he should be, they've buried the F***er !
I know what you mean though, you don't seem to notice how bad things are until you ride a bike that's not affected

Careful what you post about Jimmy Savile.
If the family are offended, argue with your statement and sue, there could be a Savile row suit.

But that has no bearing on, er, the subject, so:
Your mechanic means the top bit of the race in each bearing, not the top race only.
There's no reason to change just one; while you're there and it's stripped do the whole job, and properly, with taper rollers.

And give Image his loan RR back, eh?
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
