I painted mine satin black; goes well with the paint scheme. (Also filled the vents below the headlight and in the bellypan)
Used a sheet of mesh from B and Q, £7.50 for approx 20" x 10". Secured it with hot glue initially, but found this came loose with the temperature. Then used hi=temp silicone...this did the trick!

I would go black, orange, white and stencil an E on somehow. Take some time but would be the nuts. I think.

Ignore anyone who says blue, like we normally do.

Another fine mesh......
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

is this linking back to the oil filter standard rating thread now? is there a ISO standard for pest filtration?

Ha Ha, don't know about an ISO standard but pest control standard is 5mm to stop mice.

If you look at a air vent brick on your house the hole's on the front will be bigger than 5mm but it will taper down to 5mm, however that is only from about mid '60's when building reg's changed. If in doubt slap a mesh cover over it.

Above link shows old style air vent which isn't a brick at all but a cast iron vent.
