hi lads
a while back my bike was knocked over breaking two of the three tabs off the underside of the seat cowl
can you tell me the best way to fix this glue, plastic weld ?
i need the best as i am going to respray and don't want them coming off a year or two down the line

you can make lugs with it and its very strong , fixes cracks to .
i used it to join my top fairing together (the bit by the screen as it snapped off )
i think its stronger than the rest of the fairing .
just follow the manual and you cant go wrong .

or use the polyeurethane / abs bumper repair kits available on ebay.

the storm plastics are thermoformed and can be reformed with heat.
if you have a piece of donor plastic you can weld a new piece on with a soldering iron.
just be carefull not to boil the plastic or it goes brittle and will break off.

O' you can get it on the net, but it's so ridiculously expensive, something like £30 a tube But the video is good and I'm sure the same principle could be used with something like one of those double barrel tubes of epoxy resin glues or a small tube of Bumper fill. Halfords would probably have something.

A tube of that 3M stuff went for £20 on ebay recently http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261110323956? ... 1423.l2649 You could buy a new panel for that.

A couple of mine have broke too.

I just drilled a couple of small holes through the cowl and aftermarket undertray and tie wrapped it to the subframe. You can't see unless you look underneath and it's sturdy as hell. Just need to do the other side as well as when I pulled it up it made it a little wonky.

Then again I don't really care what it looks like as long as it's reliable and nothing falls off. It might end up as the first Rat bike on here

I will try and post a picture of my little fix, here's a description...enjoy.

I bought two 300mm SS rules from Screw fix, bent one of them at both ends so when I riveted it to the other rule it would go around the plastics.

imagine.... I have two steel rules riveted together, in cross section look like an open ended spanner, the open ends hold the plastics whilst the steel rules stop the flex in the plastic. I initially did this for our trips out to stop the panniers pushing down on the rear cracking the plastic at the point where the screws went through.

Digging around, I found here you can buy the filler powder and accelerator liquid separately to keep your original kit topped up.
