Built my first spoked wheel

Last night got knacked old cr450 wheel and took it apart. Only took me 10 minutes to lace back up!
I do build push bike wheels so that helps.

Truing tonight and then it's sorted

Well done, I don't think that's an easy task. Lets see how you get on getting it to run true.

To be fair this mx wheel is pretty easy and I could tech any one how to do it.
The spoke holes on the hub point to the hole on the rim so you can't go wrong.
Truing should be easy as same as push bike.
Only thing is the rim is bent (hence why it was free) needs new spokes tho as it took me hour to get the old ones out.

It always annoyed me that I couldn't do it, so I threw in a perfectly good job designing pneumatic systems for Lesney, maker of Matchbox toys, to go work for Alf Hagon as an apprentice wheelbuilder.

I can still do it, but there's a lot of skill in lacing to a brand new undrilled rim, drilling the holes in the rim dimples at the right angle, then working out the spoke lengths.

Worse ones were E=type Jag wheels, they used 6 or 8 gauge spokes and you had so little room to get them in.....and offset miles to one side, so four different spoke lengths on an asymmetric pattern.
I did lots of sidecar mx wheels, they take a pounding every weekend.

One recommendation, never just crop all of the old spokes out, undo a few so you can measure the correct lengths.
