I've taken my storm apart this winter and given it an overhaul. The rear frame has among other things been sandblasted and powder coated.
When mounting the rear frame I have removed some of the powder coating where it connects to the main frame. Yesterday I had it running.....it started without problems an then it sounded a bit irregular. I took it for a spin and the first few minutes it had no power, a bit of misfires and some black smoke, and the smell of unburnt fuel. After a while it was back to normal....but still not to my satisfaction.
My question is: does the rear ignition coil need earthing to deliver the correct impuls to the spark plug and do I have to remove some of the paint where it bolts to the rear frame ? Or does the bike just need a good long warm run (it has not run at all from october to marts)
Before I took it apart it ran just right

Thanks
