Hi guys,
I done the relay conversion ages ago, built my own kit. 30 amp relays, 2.5mm auto cable.
But can anyone recommend a lamp upgrade, which is the best type/wattage to go for as I've still got the original lamp fitted(before any one says anything, I'm a trained sparky and we don't call them bulbs lol its lamps, bulbs grow in the ground as my old lecturer would say).

it cost me £2.80, its very bright, throws out a decent beam of light, not sure if its legal tho, and i doubt i've done a 1000 miles with it. so for under £3, or £4.50 for two, its worth a punt....

I have the idea in my head to put 2 of these inside a VTR headlight bowl, but I want the "dipping units" - they drop the dip mask to make full beam. Meands you can use 2 HID lamps too. Would give a great beam - but it's the £90 each unit is slowing me down...

I have the relay upgrade with a tandard bulb(lamp) and find this is plenty bright enough. I know this cause I blinded my brother on his bike when we oposite sides of a crossroads last year.

As long as you have them as additional lighting. Being projector beams I don't think they would pass an MOT officially. HID's are OK as long as they are dual beam high and low.

there is no law saying you cant use hids on a bike.

im getting mine back on soon if they still work .
when i fit the this time im going to mount the ballast under the seat and use correct extension cables .
the relay mod is good and better with a 100w bulb but it still now where near as good as hids .

What HID kit is best to use? Iv seen loads of cheap things on ebay that are all EU marked ect but I don't know whether to trust them or not. Any recomendations on HIDs?

I did look at these ones. Get a spare set too, always a bonus
Are they a straight forward fit or do you have to faff around with lots of bits and pieces?

dont use hids without projectors if you intend using the bike at night.

they look amazingly bright (and are) but the beam pattern is total toss resulting in youd see further with a bongo match.

its not easy finding somewhere to mount it all tbh . last time i mounted the ballast on the inside on the fairing with carpet tape lol

Is it really that bad? I thought that was what the reflector and lens were for
